The recessed body sits flush with the floor when not in use so it does not obstruct loading or unloading, catch on cargo edges, or create a tripping hazard for operators inside the vehicle. When needed, the ring lifts up to receive snap hooks, grab hooks, carabiners, and similar fittings, which makes it compatible with most existing tie-down systems.
